Bob Dylan vs. Straight Outta Compton
Bob Dylan is considered to be a great social commentator. His songs are like poetry. In the 1960’s he wrote some of the most famous protest songs. And they used to sting. People say he’s peerless when it comes to songwriting.
But in 1988 came an album out of nowhere, which took Dylan head on (and almost succeeded). In terms of both apt social commentary and lethality of sting. The competition came from ‘Straight Outta Compton’.
Like Dylan’s protest songs, ‘Straight Outta Compton’ did not come out of the intellectual environs of New York’s Greenwich Village. As the title says, it came straight out of the blood splattered, drug infested streets of Compton, Los Angeles.
Just like Compton’s streets, the language used is utterly filthy. The songs may lack Dylan’s “sophistication”. But hell, they are as poetic, if not more.

Awww...you're the best. No hunting around for moi..Thanks!
Where do you get thes links from anyway? I've been trying to get Getz/Gilberto since 2 days now..all goddamn torrents are 200mb and no media share in sight..annoying!
Public Enemy too.
lost -
best place are some shady blogs that hoard links.
or, what i do is search for the album title within " " and mediafire. works a surprising amt of time.
LLG: A couple of friends send me the links, especially the leaks. The origin is surely one of these blogs that host a lot of links. And some tricks with Google search also help.
Lets see I try and look for the Getz/Gilberto thing.
Antick: Yeah, Public Enemy too. But songs on Straight Outta Compton are just explosive (and just way too funky and groovy at the same time) man. Even today they can fuck the listener to a state of shock. Imagine what would have happened back in the late 80's. You can hear the whole stuff similar to the Rodney King episode being played out in this album, years in advance. No wonder just a couple of years later the actual shit happened & LA saw one of the worst race riots in US history.
And also chk out Livejournal or some similar thing. Great place to get new music.
