The Clash - London Calling

Probably one of the most iconic covers of one of the most iconic albums by one of the most iconic bands. And when you learn this was captured by Pennie Smith within a matter of a second, you realise creativity is best expressed when it's absolutely spontaneous.

No image in the last so many decades has captured a generation's state of mind better than this.

Paul Simonon (bass) -"When I look at it now," he says, "I wish I'd lifted my face a bit more."

VH1's 50 favourite album covers.

Really liked 'The Mars Volta'. Thanks for the recco.

#47: SOAD.

The album doesn't have a bloody cover.

Sheesh. Not a mention of any Sigur Ros..or electronic artists like Aphex Twin or Boards of Canada.

Antickpix-Smith said in an interview that she had read the nasty look in Paul's eyes. And she knew something was going to happen. VH1 showed the other snaps taken seconds before this one. Amazing. Talk about having a thing for photography. She has also photographed The Stone Roses extensively.

I can detect the resignation in your statement. Yeah, Bryan Adams tours agaaaain. Can't we fool people by having Ryan Adams instead??? We can atleast have some good music.

THe Unrest Cure-Not at all, man. They are really good. It would be hard to get, but try At.The.Drive.In. Mars Volta is made up of two ex ATDI members.

In an effort to balance things up they just screwed it all up (NSYNC made the cut). and you don't have
The VU Banana Cover
Bowie-Diamond Dogs
Stones-Exile
Revolver-Beatles
Primal Scream-XTRMNTR
Bjork-Homogenic
Prince-Lovesexy

The RS list is a tad better.

there are so many other covers missing.

one really good list was published in Vanity Fair music special a few years back. It was compiled by Beck. So it was more of a personal choice but made sense. Just like his music, I loved that man's taste too. I picked the omissions fron his list.

WEll..considering that Ryan once upped and left a concert when a guy screamed 'go bryan' or requested a bryan adams song, he'd probably nuke the concert venue here.

Ha!Ha! Nuke he will. Poor chap, I can imagine his state of mind when thousand voices echo "summer of 69". let's drop the plan.

Ryan has some serious issues with bands like Nickleback & Co.

You should hear him speak about Nickleback. He expresses his dislike in the most explicit ways.

Not that I'm a great fan of Ryan's music, but he is an entertaining inteviwee..
