Bitches Brew

"Whatever your temperament, Bitches' Brew will reward in direct proportion to the depth of your own involvement." - Rolling Stone

Release of Bitches Brew was a turning point in the history of music. It was the beginning of that awesome phase: Jazz-Rock fusion. The musicians who played on Bitches Brew along with Miles were jazz masters par excellence. Many went on to form brilliant fusion bands-McLaughlin's Mahavishnu Orchestra & Shakti, Joe Zawinul & Wayen Shorter with Weather Report, Chick Corea's Return to Forever, to name a few.

I guess the importance and brilliance of Bitches Brew is best expressed in the original Rolling Stone magazine review.

Kind of Blue-Probably the greatest pure jazz album of all time. Or why limit it to jazz. It can easily fit into the list of greatest albums ever. BB appeals to rock listeners , KOB won't.

Yeah, imagine Coltrane used to play in the Miles Davis Quintet in the '50s, and how great [that] man was(try A Love Supreme by Coltrane). The RS essay so perfectly describes Miles' ability to groom musicians.
