Well, I tho think it bypasses the good shit category with ease and shoots straight into very good shit (your classification hierarchy is extremely sophisticated). Pitchfork gave it a bad rap though, but what would they know.
I don't see Mclusky in that collection of yours...tell me that's an aberration!!
guess i have to agree. this is very good shit. probably as good as their debut.
to tell the truth i have not heard Mclusky ever in my life.

None of that "you- haven't-heard-this-you-haven't-lived" waffle. But you should give them a go. My partner has pretty much the exact same music taste as you, and he loves them.
i love steve albini. so it should not be a problem liking them. i have heard a lot about mclusky but never tried them. will do that for sure.
the man has produced some of the best albums of the last 20 years.
