I saw this the other day - the episode in which Danny DeVito scoffs down a few tabs while watching his friends try out for the football team. Totally bizarre.

Danny DeVito's casting in this show is so awkward but absolutely perfect.

Scynthian: lack of telly a hipster maketh not. Where is your keffiyeh? Your record player? Your vegan diet?

SGITC: absolutely. and the twisted way in which these guys deal with the current American socio-political issues is just fucking awesome. first season is classic indie shit.

SE: indian telly is fucking boring and shit, but not owing a tv and hipster logic is a bit confusing.
the wire, deadwood, oz....names hipsters love to drop. and they are all HBO stuff.

Well, i was being facetious, but wt fuck:

Though white people have a natural aversion to television, there are some exceptions. For white people to like a TV show it helps if it is: critically acclaimed, low-rated, shown on premium cable, and available as a DVD box set.

The latter is important so that white people can order it from Netflix and tell their friends “they are really into "insert series" and I watched ten episodes in a row in the weekend. I’m almost caught up.”

Anyway, I am way addicted to Mad Men, and John from Cincinnati. Awesome them.

Apropos of nothing: have you heard any Caetano Veloso?

read a bit about him somewhere. haven't heard him yet.

have you seen californication?

At 3:23 AM, Blogger Emma Blowgun said...

Californication has awful actors and a stupid storyline but is eminently watchable. Lots and lots of gratuitous boob shots.

hehehe totally agree on that. absolute fun. a total titfest.

I am not really into boobs, but the father, Hank, absolutely kills it with the 'life's too short to dance with fat chicks' line. Some might call it a frat boy cliche, I call it GOLD.

Whitelight: Did you notice that the chick in Californication, the ex-wife's step daughter, is the youngest sibling from The Nanny? Now that was a good show.

Scynthian: I am sure we could hazard what you are into. Also, you are lamer than your blog used to be. And Mad Men - really? You are so 2007.

No, I have not seen the Nanny. Did not even know about it.

Was just checking out some of her pictures from the nanny. Grown into a nice looking female , this Madeline Zima.

Have you heard about this another Showtime series called Weeds?
Heard it is pretty good.

You didn't watch The Nanny in the 90s?? You must have been in ability section, DPS RKP.

Have you seen Big Love? Interesting premise.

I tend to gravitate towards the Brit stuff; Smack The Pony, Mighty Boosh, Extras, Little Britain etc.

As for Madeleine Zima, I don't know, that gap in the teeth man.

hehehe no, was in a 133 yr old boarding school in a very, very small town called Ajmer in the state of Rajasthan

Whitelight: Boarding-shoarding and all - totes old school. Well anyway. You missed out on many lovely post-school afternoons spent wondering whether Fran would ever really get on to Mr. Sheffield.

As for Caetano Veloso, no drift to get really. My partner looks exactly like him, is all, and that's excellent, cause Caetano Veloso is a genius and shit.

At 9:27 AM, Blogger whitelight said...

yup, boarding-shoarding. Mayo College was the school.

Should really check this Veloso guy.

The second record is what you are looking for, and Transa. That's the shit right there . And while you are at it give Os Mutantes' eponymous, and Gal Costa's third a spin.

Surly: I saw your boy, the Caetano look-alike, kissing boys at this bar in Bangalore. Thougt you should know. And Mad Men's the best thing on television Period.

Isn't Mayo the one with all the fags, or is that Doon? I get my boarding schools mixed up.

At 12:52 PM, Blogger whitelight said...

you got it all mixed up indeed, my friend. hehehehe the fag factory of India sits up on the hills of Dehradun.

At 2:56 PM, Blogger whitelight said...

and btw how does that make a difference? it still is a mighty fine school. definitely way, way better than the one you went to.

people from mayo generally dont say very good things about Doon. but i got loads of dosco friends.

I am from Dinky Government School and I have no friends :-(

Now now boys, retract those claws. On with the discussion of music. Whitelight, I was thinking of seeing a Futureheads gig this October: have you heard their latest and would you recommend buying a ticket, or passing?

At 1:28 PM, Blogger whitelight said...

it is a decent band. one of those post-punk revival thing.

dont ask a live music starved person like me these questions. i even went for the roger waters show. another matter it was free.

check out another Sunderland band called Field music. pretty neat too.
