Eastern Promises

London is the new playground for North American masters. Allen left New York to set that spectacular Match Point in the city. Now, David Cronenberg creates Eastern Promises with London as the backdrop.

Eastern Promises’ sudden and extreme violence reminds me of an equally brilliant film: Takeshi Kitano’s Hana Bi.

hm, been meaning to catch this one when i can. a history of violence, though not without its moments of brilliance, underwhelmed with its ending. but cronenberg remains one of my favourite directors.

@bobo totally agree.

though this one is way better than a history of violence. way, way better. but yeah, even on this one he could have worked better with the climax. however, a brill film nonetheless.
